Karl has been in Professional Lay Church Ministry for almost 10 years and is very active in the world of Church Administration. He is past Chair for Association of Parish Business Administrators (APBA) for this Archdiocese and sits on many Boards including serving with the Archbishop as a Trustee for the Archdiocesan Medical and Benefits Plan (AMBP), Executive Board Member of the Catholic Services Appeal Foundation (CSAF) and Chair of the Coalition of Ministry Associations (CMA). He has experience navigating Parish restructuring, creation and implementation of business processes and procedures, capital schedule development and implementation, Facilities overhauls, Strategic Planning, Capital Campaigns and redemptions, massive technology overhauls (he’s a huge tech junky!) and the starting of many social events and fundraisers such as Fish Fry’s, Block Party, etc.. He is a believer that active life in the Church can start with connections, community and relationships.
As a professional classically and jazz trained pianist, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, Karl has been playing in the Church since the age of 12! He has also served as a Director of Liturgical Music. His favorite Ministry is playing for Funerals and being able to help families in grief. When he is not involved in Church service he enjoys live music, cooking, performing arts, woodworking, biking and outdoor activities with his wife, four kids, two dogs, snake* (the wife’s!) and 25 chickens.
*NOTE, the snake was blessed by our Priest at a pet blessing in 2017 so is in good standing with the Church. Gusss (the snake) is so eager to “shed” any association with his bad biblical connotations, that he has appeared as a guest animal in Faith Formation classes as part of their unit on St. Francis! His favorite hymn is SSSSurexit Christus. Karl is WAY too proud of his “Dad puns” much to the chagrin of his kids.
