Justice and Outreach

Continuing the work of Jesus Christ on Earth

“But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him?  Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth."
                                                                2 John 3:17-18

OUR MISSION:
Inspired by God’s word we seek to engage, educate, and empower all members of our parish community to identify and address the injustices that wound our world.  Together we scrutinize the signs of the times in light of the gospel so that we live and walk faithfully in the world as Christ did.

Advocacy

Social justice advocacy has been defined as organized efforts aimed at influencing public attitudes, policies, and laws to create a more socially just society guided by the vision of human rights that may include awareness of socio-economic inequities, protection of social rights as well as racial identity, experiences of oppression, and spirituality.
Advocacy encompasses the education and mobilization of citizens, so they can become involved in developing and promoting policies they care about.

Through Catholics Confront Global Poverty, we encourage Catholics in the United States and others of good will to learn more about policy issues affecting our brothers and sisters around the world. This means advocating for changes in existing unjust policies and the creation of new policies that benefit the common good.
